Live each day well

In our small ceramics studio at the base of Maungatautari mountain in Cambridge, we use the latin phrase memento mori | carpe diem as a reminder to live life fully and boldly.

As a creative team, living a full and artful life includes both making carefully crafted ceramicware that is unique and sustainable & also connecting with people through our workshops.

All products are designed and made in our studio in Maungatautari.

+ + +

After working in film industry Art Departments for over 20 years I decided to follow a different path that would enliven and sustain. Many years ago while working in Wellington on The Hobbit movie, I was taken by the ceramicware made for that production and together with Tonia, started a journey with clay.

Tonia completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Canterbury University and taught Visual Art at secondary school level for many years followed by time as an art gallery director.
Together we design the forms, I throw them and Tonia preps and glazes the bisqueware and applies her painting skills to the pieces as well as using handbuilding techniques.

We work out of our country studio at the base of Maungatautari mountain, just south of Cambridge - our whakaruruhau, giving protection, shelter and connection. Having grown up in Cambridge it was very special for me to return several years ago as a full time potter, and Tonia has also come full circle to be inspired once again by the beauty of the Waikato region.

Ngaa mihi nui
